Apothecary 5x7

This piece was inspired by the history of cats and witches.

Although cats may be viewed as bad luck in association with witches, some think witches kept cats because they knew they would hunt mice and other small animals in their home.

Some think that the association of witches with cats, and the killing of cats because of this association is partly why the black plague became so devastating. Without as many cats around to hunt rodents that carried disease, the disease was able to spread more easily.
